Divine Wisdom: The passage,
“Help one another in righteousness and piety, but help not one another in sin and rancour…”QN5:2, reminds those who keep saying, ‘But aren’t we supposed to love everybody as ourselves?’ that, the answer is yes, but we are not supposed to lean on them, listen to them, learn their wrong ways and become like them because, if we do, they will tear us down instead of building us up, keep us from living 100 per cent for God until eventually, we end up like people who developed unhealthy relationships that led them astray.
In other words, constant exposure to wrong attitudes and values will eventually take its toll on our lives.
So let the knowledge that:
1) We are asking for trouble when we choose the wrong friends and engage in wrong relationships;
2) The friends we should keep are those who bring out the best in us, lift us up, encourage us and make us better individuals;
3) If we really want to soar like eagles, we shouldn’t be running around with turkeys; Teach you, to start this new week by first making an assessment of those people close to you, choose only those who fear God and obey His commandments and thereafter, you too should up your act in walking the talk!
Pray with me: O Allah! Do not leave me in denial of Your wisdom to live a worthy life. When I lose hope, help me to remember that Your love is greater than my disappointments and Your plans for my life are better than my dreams. Choose right for me and order my steps in your ways to greater achievements, by Your Mercy. Amin.
