Divine Wisdom: The passage, “worship your Lord, Who hath created you and those before you, so that you may attain Taqwa” QN2:21, reminds us that, all of us are called to worship God, but while there are some who are more inclined to do it through works, others are more inclined to do it through worship, both of which count as acts of service with Him for as the Prophet (s.a.w) so aptly puts it ‘The believer, through worship, acquires a spiritual awareness that he takes with him throughout all of life’s endeavours.’
In other words, for as long as we are alive, we are called to worship Him. Worship purifies the heart and truly, through prayer, a believer attains spiritual devotion and moral elevation.
So let the knowledge that:
1) Forgiveness, healing, deliverance and protection are benefits that we receive through worship;
2) Like a thermostat, worship creates an ambience in which God’s presence can be experienced and enjoyed; and
3) We worship Him when we offer thanks and praises unto Him and He blesses us in return;
Teach you, in the spirit of the Moulud Nabiyi as we celebrate the birth of the Prophet (s.a.w), and with a clear understanding of the benefits that accrue with worshipping and praising therefrom, to do it with all your soul and all your might, to claim a bigger victory.
Pray with me: O Allah! Purge me of everything that’s not of You and do not make my heart deviate from Your service. Incline my body and soul towards constant worship and grant me my requests as I call upon You, by Your Mercy.
