Divine Wisdom: The passage,
“. . . And let them pardon and overlook. Would you not like that Allah should forgive you?” Surah An-Noor – QN24:22, reminds us that, the Prophet (s.a.w) said, ‘Whoever suffers an injury or hurt and forgives the person responsible, God will raise his status to a higher degree and remove one of his sins’; and unlike the man whose condition that had immobilized him for thirty-eight years, bought him the sympathy of others and perhaps gave him a reason to say he was not responsible, the truth is that we are all responsible for two things, namely ‘our attitudes’ and ‘our choices’, and because we have all been hurt in some way, if we remain focused on the negative events in our past, we would only have succeeded in moving from being victims by circumstance, to being victims by choice.
In other words, we would become like those who think that negative attention is better than no attention at all.
So let the knowledge that:
1) Whatever others may have taken from us in the past, if we choose to remain bitter, they will end up taking even more from us in the future;
2) The key to happiness is in our hands, not those who hurt us and that key is forgiveness; and
3) If we fail to forgive those who hurt us, we cannot expect to receive forgiveness when we need it;
Teach you, if indeed you want to get well and be happy, and get along with prosperity, to apologize if you need to, make amends if you can, then forgive yourself and move on. The sky is waiting for you to fly!
Pray with me: O Allah! Accept my repentance today. Enrich me with Your words, teach me ways to forgive and embrace all around me, and to give thanks to You always. Do not weaken our expectations before You favour us with Your blessings. Make this new week a new source of blessings for me and my household, by Your grace. Amin!
Good morning and have a week full of abundant blessings!
