Divine Wisdom: The passage,
“I am indeed near… So let them abide in Me and trust in Me…” Surah Al-Baqara – QN2:186, reminds us that, just as it happens when we put tea bags in cups of boiling water so that, as the tea bag is influenced by the hot water, it begins to flavour it until the water takes on the taste of the tea in the bag and the longer the bag stays in the water, the stronger the colour and flavour of the tea become; When we abide in His Words, He will abide in us and we will start walking, speaking and acting like Him.
In other words, the longer we abide in Him, the deeper we will go with Him and the more His presence will permeate our lives.
So let the knowledge that:
1) A branch does not bear fruit by trying, working, or straining itself, it bears fruits only from a tree, whose root is firmly fixed, as in the parable of the ‘goodly word’ likened to a ‘goodly tree’ and its branches reach to the heavens …. QN14:24;
2) Just the same way a tree needs maintenance like irrigation and pruning; belief in the heart needs constant Quran studying, useful knowledge, good deeds, dhikr and meditation, otherwise, it may weaken and disappear; and
3) The closer we get to Him, the more we will do as He says and walk in His blessings;
Teach you, if you want to abide in Him and He in you, to keep studying His Word and obeying His will!
Pray with me: O Allah! Help me to develop a strong belief in You and fear You, so that You may perfect Your favour on you and my offsprings that we may be guided aright never to depart from Your ways. Engage us to be useful to humanity through our knowledge and good deeds, by Your Mercy. Amin!
