Divine Wisdom: The passage,
“And follow not the footsteps of the devil. Lo! he is an open enemy for you.” QN2:168 reminds those of us who constantly hunger for attention, crave success and long for intimacy to be aware of our weak spots and bring them to God because if we fail to do so, Satan will keep making us doubt our salvation and our righteous standing before God by bringing them to us, enticing us to take matters into our own hands and trying to meet our own needs.
In other words, we are saved, not by our own goodness, but by His grace, through faith.
So let the knowledge that:
1) Only a life totally dependent on God can keep defeating Satan’s strategies all the time;
2) God will strengthen us with His spirit to always point out our defects so that we can develop strategies with which to overcome them; and
3) All that can ever take us to defeat satan is the passage “the devil is an enemy for you, so treat him as an enemy.” QN35:6;
Teach you, even as you contemplate the challenges that lie ahead of you this week, to stay focused on your goal, believe in yourself and your relationship with God, and keep right on walking!
Pray with me: O Allah! I come to You in total repentance. Please adorn me with the garment of faith. Help me to overcome my weaknesses. Grant me the grace to build more on my strength and trust in You alone, channel great successes along my path and make Your glory shine upon me and my household that I may have Your praises on my lips always.
