Divine Wisdom: The passage,
“when it is said, Come up higher! go up higher; Allah will exalt those who believe words of wisdom and those who have knowledge, to high ranks.” Surah Al-Mujaadila – QN58:11, reminds us that, as we examine our mistakes, we will come to realise it was our thinking at the time that caused them and because we tend to think like the people we spend the most time with, we must learn to appreciate how others think and continually expose ourselves to people who think differently from us.
In other words, if we are too attached to the way things are being done now, going forward, things will never change.
So let the knowledge that:
1) Anytime we find a way of thinking that works for us, the temptation will be to rely on it repeatedly, even if it does not work in new situations;
2) When our goal is to protect the success we already enjoy, we would be tempted to put the brakes on other processes that can lead us to even greater success; and
3) When we spend time with those who think outside the box, we are more likely to break new grounds;
Teach you, because every tradition may not be a good idea for the future, to regularly interrogate other ideas and challenge your own thoughts!
Pray with me: Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are The Bestower. Amin!
